Conference Justification 

Subject: Request to Attend the Beef Industry Safety Summit     

 Dear _________,     

I am requesting approval to attend the Beef Industry Safety Summit hosted by National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, a contractor to the Beef Checkoff, and BIFSCo (Beef Industry Food Safety Council) on April 2-4, 2024 in Denver . The Beef Industry Safety Summit is a hallmark event that industry safety leaders and scientists are invited to attend. The primary objective of this annual conference is to openly converse with leaders and top decision-makers in the beef safety field to seek solutions that will benefit the entire industry. Through presentations and discussions, conference-goers tackle strategic initiatives such as beef-chain challenges, pathogen monitoring and testing, interventions, and regulatory insights.    

Below are a few reasons as to why my participation in this event is essential:   

• Networking: Attendance provides opportunities for networking with others in the industry from all sectors to identify mentors outside our own organization.  
• Research: A core component of the event is hearing in-field or recently completed academic research and how it can benefit the industry.   
• Industry Experiences: The Safety Summit also showcases data and experiences from industry partners so we all can learn from other’s safety challenges and successes.  
• Regulatory Insights: Updates from regulatory officials provide a view into the future on safety regulations and compliance standards that may impact safe beef production and processing.  
• Professional Development: Learning from case studies and real-world examples presented by speakers gives a platform for facilitating continuous improvement in safety protocols, enhancing methodologies and skillsets, and ensuring a well-trained food safety team.
